Programme

Real estate is the most important asset class in the world. A simple statement, but to the point. A statement that, leaving aside the subprime crisis in the USA, clearly shows how closely interlinked the real estate industry and financial markets are. Real estate products include not only a loan from a mortgage bank, but also complex multinational syndications, as well as real estate funds or investment trusts. There are a multitude of experts specialized in the one or other area, but there is a lack of managers who have a deep understanding of real estate issues paired with finance know-how. Generalists no longer meet these requirements. Thanks to the global financial and economic crisis this has finally become common knowledge.
Professionals with specialist qualifications are spoilt for choice. There's no end to the list of opportunities in finance and real estate, management consulting or the public sector: real estate investor, banker, appraiser, analyst (property or fund analyst, project developer, fund manager, real estate manager (portfolio, asset, property, facility manager), corporate real estate manager, private real estate manager/family office manager, real estate investment banker (structured finance, M&A, IPO, principal investment), infrastructure manager, housing policy manager, renewable energy expert. A wealth of prospects!

Emphases/Curriculum

The Master in Real Estate programme comprises three semesters. The first two semesters are spent at EBS and the third semester is completed at one of EBS' partner universities abroad.

All Master’s programmes at EBS consist of a basic structure and lead to the Master of Science degree. Students are able to follow either a generalist route or select a specialist path to deepen their knowledge in a particular area.

In all programmes students have the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge in selected specializations, gain international experience through studying abroad, and take advantage of EBS extensive business, social and professional networks.

Practical relevance

In the MSc programme students analyse and question real business decisions, thus an understanding of practical business conditions and of the outcomes when applying concepts and theories is important. Our lecturers guide the students to understand and improve professional practice.
The EBS teaching concept links the students' practical experience with the theoretical framework. To this end we involve experts from the business world in our teaching and develop topics for seminar papers and Master’s theses in cooperation with leading companies.
Our teaching concept itself is regularly evaluated by corporate representatives and academics from outside EBS. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application reinforced by a compulsory work placement of a minimum of 6 weeks is crucial to success in leading positions in a global marketplace.

	The semester abroad can be completed at one of around 200 EBS partner universities worldwide, and can be organized for general studies or to deepen knowledge in a specialist area. Dual Degree In addition to the EBS Master of Science degree, selected students who spend two semesters abroad also have the opportunity to earn a Master's or MBA degree at one of our partner universities.
