Programme

Aviation is one of the most dynamic business sectors in the world and has always offered fascinating job opportunities for people with the right qualifications. But innovative technologies, ecological restrictions and increasing competition have transformed the structure of the industry dramatically and will bring further challenges to adapt in the face of future change.
Therefore there is a growing demand for a new generation of professional managers with a deep understanding of the global value-chain in aviation ranging from aircraft manufacturing to the airlines, including airports and infrastructural services like air traffic control.

The unique AVIMA-study programme combines technical and operational know-how with the skills to manage an organisation responsibly using state-of-the-art methods like financial control and strategic planning. Participants will get fundamental insights into the success factors in aviation and will have the opportunity to work on realistic study projects of their own. Our lecturers are professors with long-time management experience as well as leading experts from the industry.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Biermann
Member of Executive Board

Target audience

The AVIMA programme is designed for students with a Bachelor's or Diploma degree in engineering or business who aspire to a career in civil aviation. Candidates with other academic qualifications may be accepted after an entrance test including a personal interview.

This programme is unique for the target group in the participating countries and will be one of the few Aviation Management degree courses in Europe. Each module can be separately ordered by companies as a management seminar. It is possible to adapt the contents to the demands of the company.

Organisation

The WIT is the graduate school of the University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau - Technische Hochschule Wildau). The university in Wildau follows in the tradition of the former engineering school on the site, which trained engineers to recognised professional qualifications.

The works school, founded in 1949, played a key role in mechanical engineering in the region. In 1991 the federal state of Brandenburg founded the University of Applied Sciences Wildau. The TH Wildau is now the biggest university of applied sciences in Brandenburg with more than 3600 students. It offers a wide range of first degree programmes in direct study and distance learning programmes. Several further education programmes are offered as well via distance learning courses.

The modern and future-oriented range of degrees at the university includes courses in various areas of business, administration and engineering. It is the only university in the whole of Germany to offer telematics and also the only university of applied sciences with a degree in bioinformatics/biosystems technology. Recently a new degree in aviation engineering/aviation logistics was introduced – an important step in a region where aviation is coming to play an increasingly significant role in the economy.

Study in Wildau

The University of Applied Sciences Wildau is located very close to Germany's capital city, Berlin, which is easy to reach from Wildau by public transport.

The campus lies on an industrial complex where in 1897 the Schwartzkopff company established a locomotive works and built a workers housing complex that is today a listed building. In the region around Wildau numerous technology and business parks have been set up in recent years, with service industries and logistics centres, energy, aviation and environmental technology companies. The University of Applied Sciences Wildau works in close cooperation with many of them.
