ProgrammeOur mission is to develop competent and responsible business leaders capable of meeting the challenges of today’s inter- national business environment. It is tailored by experts to meet the challenges of a dynamic global economy. Following the concept of Applied Sciences, the focus is on a close connection between theory and practical application.With this course of study we provide a practical and inter- nationally-orientated education that enables you to understand changing and challenging business processes easily. An inte- grated and intensive curriculum covering the most important areas of present-day business management will introduce you to innovative methods and concepts. You will acquire and apply the knowledge and tools to solve business problems in the global context. Furthermore, particular importance is attached to the develop- ment of the interpersonal skills of our students. These include: an ability to work in a team, decision-making, presentation techniques, conducting negotiations and intercultural under- standing. Target audienceThe MBA programme is aimed at young executives wishing to enhance their professional skills with a sound management qualification. Graduates from non-economic disciplines are the primary target group of this part-time course as well as those, who have studied Economics as a first degree and wish to expand their skills in the areas of decision making and management orientation.It is an excellent choice for anyone seeking to prepare for a career in management. Emphases/CurriculumThe MBA curriculum is comprised of 11 modules that endow our students with essential management expertise efficiently and in a brief span of time.MANAGEMENT FUNDAMENTALS: This field of competence comprises modules dealing with the principal functions of business organizations. Students will build on and enhance their basic knowledge by gaining management related expertise.
To succeed in a constantly changing business environment, it is important to know the principal dynamic forces. In this field of competence, our students will learn to analyze and to evaluate organizational processes. They will acquire the methods and tools to formulate strategies in order to control theses processes.
The modules of this field of competence focus on the interdisciplinary and practical application of the previously acquired knowledge and skills. Th e objective is to consolidate what has been learned in applying leadership skills to real business situations.
Finally in your Master‘s Thesis you will put into practice the skills and knowledge that you have gained during the MBA programme. In your independent written work you will have to analyze and solve a particular theoretical or practical problem of the business environment of your company within a specific time limit. |
Practical relevanceBy focusing on international business the MBA curriculum is designed to further the individual development of internationally operating business leaders. The international makeup of the student body enhances this international outlook. Additionally, the varied industrial backgrounds of our community facilitate the cross-fertilization of ideas and experiences between different business fields, companies and cultures.Moreover, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration maintains links and partnerships with numerous universities in Europe and overseas. MBA students are invited to intensify these contacts and to participate in interesting field trips abroad. |

Applicants for the MBA programme should have an above-average university degree. To be accepted you should be able to provide an equivalent of 210 credit points (CP) according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). For applicants, who have acquired their fi nal university qualifi cation abroad, it is necessary to get in contact with our partner uniassist. Uniassist checks the equivalence of your degree to the admission requirement of 210 CP. Applicants with less than 210 CP and/or a non-economic first degree (e.g. Engineering, Natural Sciences, Computer Science, etc.), who do not have adequate basic economic knowledge are expected to take preparation courses. These courses which make up for any lack in economic knowledge or insufficient CP can be participated in before starting or during the MBA programme. Furthermore, a minimum of three years of professional experience related to business after receiving your degree is mandatory. An adequate knowledge of the English language is required. Proof of English language proficiency is usually documented by the “Test of English as a Foreign Language” (TOEFL) with a minimum of 550 points paper-based or 213 points computer-based or 79-80 points internet-based. English proficiency can also be documented through other equivalent qualifications. OrganisationThe institution, formerly known as the “Fachhochschule Darmstadt”, was founded in 1971 from several forerunners. The roots of what are now the architecture and civil engineering faculties go all the way back to the mid 19th Century with the “Landesbaugewerkschule Darmstadt”, while teaching in design also has a history spanning over 100 years. In 2006 the institution was renamed “Hochschule Darmstadt – University of Applied Sciences”, or “h_da” (pronounced H-D-A) for short.With roughly 10,000 students, 320 professorships and over 40 courses, Hochschule Darmstadt is one of the biggest universities of applied sciences in Germany. It offers courses and carries out research in the following fi elds: engineering, mathematics, information science, computer science, business, society, social work, architecture, media and design. |
