Programme

The MA course is designed to qualify students for leading positions in international enterprises. In addition to the core subjects, which deal specifically with developing skills in international marketing and sales, the study programme attaches great importance to improving general analytical techniques. This is achieved by means of seminars on current business/management problems, case studies and projects. In accordance with the international character of the programme, the language of instruction is English.

The MA course is a full time study program. In line with the concept of "applied sciences", teaching takes place in small groups and academic staff are selected with special reference to their professional experience. The program comprises a study semester abroad at one of our foreign partner universities. This Masters degree course has successfully undergone the official German accreditation procedures established in spring 2001.

Target audience

The Master of Arts in International Marketing is intended for:
  • applicants who have already obtained a first degree in Business Administration (BBA, German Diploma) and now wish to obtain an additional qualification in the field of international marketing and sales.
  • Although designed to offer a post-graduate education to German graduates with the ambition to assume international business appointments,
  • the course may be equally attractive for graduate students from foreign universities, including our European and overseas partner universities.

Total fees approx.: € 3.000  
 
Fees & Costs:
Students will be requested to pay a tuition fee of € 500,- per semester for their full-time graduate studies at the University of Applied Sciences, Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM).

In addition, the university charges a semester social fee of about € 195,- covering administrative costs and free transport in and around Giessen. Students will also have to bear fees for a compulsary health insurance.

For the abroad semester (2nd semester) at one of our partner universities, tuition fees will fall due in accordance with the fee regulations of the chosen university. These vary from € 1.200,- to € 5.000,-

Admission requirements:
  • academic degree in economics or business administration (bachelor or German diploma) with a mark not lower than "good" (equivalent to the mark 2.5 of the German grading system)
  • basic German language skills (a minimum of 260 hours of course work).
  • sufficient knowledge of the English language (TOEFL test*: 550/213points/iBT 79 score; or Cambridge First Certificate, Grade A; or IELTS 5,5)
  • a reference letter from one of your former University professors
  • a motivation letter, written in German language

Going abroad: obligatory
  As part of the curriculum stundents spend one semester at a foreign university in order to improve their intercultural and international comptence. The third semester of the program is reserved for this stay.

The business department of the university has partner universities in Europe (GB, Denmark, France), the USA and Asia and students can use this network when they choose their university for the foreign semester.

International students can alternatively study at the University of Applied Sciences, Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in one of the german study programs in the field of business.
