Programme

Mobility matters for the human environment. It consumes about one-third of all energy in a country such as the United States. And transport emissions strongly influence global warming and air quality. Thus, people naturally wonder whether we have a chance for "green mobility" systems embedded in the environment so as to impose minimal disturbance of the climate and the environment.

Automotive companies worldwide are striving to develop vehicles that will allow us to save energy and protect our environment while staying mobile and independent. Therefore they have started to develop new technologies, new production methods and new ways to manage traffic information properly. To tackle those challenges requires globally thinking visionaries, engineers and managers that are able to combine competences in mechanical and electrical engineering with excellent know how in economics, business management and law.

Therefore the GME master program has been designed as an interdisciplinary program centred around energy management and mechatronics for automotive applications. It draws on the long engineering tradition in Karlsruhe where Carl Benz , the inventor of the automobile, has received his academic education. Today the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is a worldwide landmark of engineering research and education.

Program Director GME

Target audience

  • Mid-career and young professionals (age 27 - 40) identified as high potentials in the company
  • Foreseen career path as an engineering specialist with growing responsibilities as a „generalist“ in the fields of development, production, logistics, services or related fields
The Master program will empower students to understand and successfully manage the most important technologies that will enable the automotive industry to master the challenges ahead.

With the completion of the program – having earned a M.Sc. of the KIT – participants are well positioned to fill this urgent demand for specialists and leadership positions in this rapidly growing field of "green" technologies and applications.

This necessary professional and methodological training is covered by our innovative degree programs at the HECTOR School designed for future Executives.

Study in Karlsruhe

Today 270 000 people live in Karlsruhe the centre of the renowned “Technologieregion”, comprising one of the most dynamic high-tech areas in Europe.

The city has also served as the home of justice in Germany for over 50 years. In 1950 the Federal Supreme Court began its work here as the highest authority in civil and criminal proceedings in Germany.

High Tech and High Life come together at the internationally recognized Center for Art and Media (ZKM), which is located in a historic industrial building and provides a unique museum of modern media.
