ProgrammeIn 2004, FIM was introduced within the Elite Network of Bavaria. FIM has since emerged as a great success story: inaddition to the Universität Augsburg and the Technische Universität München, other national and international scientific and business partners contribute to this unique, individual study program. Within the Elite Network of Bavaria, FIM is the only full time business master program. FIM’s high reputation is further underlined by its excellent position in the nationwide CHE Master-Ranking of 2008/2009 from the “ZEIT” and “Handelsblatt” newspapers, which ranked FIM 1st in all categories. Students attend elective courses within all areas of the five majors according to their interest, where they can choose their individual major. The wide range of courses guarantees an excellent academic and professional education. Moreover, this multifaceted approach allows students to prepare for a unique, interdisciplinary career, where they can make a contribution to society in responsible and challenging positions. The program is designed to enable its highly-motivated students to fill leadership positions in both practice and science. The 4th semester: Master’s thesis To complete FIM, students prepare the Master’s Thesis with a professional partner, within a research project, or both. |
Practical relevanceOutstanding personal supportIntensive and individual support makes it possible for students to gain experience in both methodological studies and in practical work. Students are also encouraged and supported by a specific mentoring program that includes high level scientists and first-class practitioners. For instance, they can get a unique insight into the daily life of leading managers by accompanying them on a typical working day. In addition, informal get-togethers offer the possibility of unique personal exchanges between students and major personalities. Focus on interpersonal competences Being successful in a leading position requires both professional as well as interpersonal competences. Regular soft skills courses, summer schools, projects with business partners and an obligatory social project as part of the curriculum provide these important qualifications. FIM thus helps students to develop into individuals with highly diverse skills and interests. Exceptional practical relevance and scientific education Cooperation with our renowned business partners provides students with a wide range of possibilities to develop their knowledge in practice, to undertake exciting internships, to attend workshops and to carry out practical projects. They gain valuable scientific experience, e.g. through paper projects supervised by internationally renowned scientists. In this way students have first-class preparation for their future activities in practice and science. |

Study in AugsburgThere are many aspects to the University that make it so attractive. Not only the wide range of degree courses and excellent environment of a campus that is manageable and conductive to study, but also the advantages of belonging to a vibrant, medium-sized city with a population of 275,000 and set in a region that is one of Germany’s most popular holiday destinations. Two thousand years of glorious history have sculpted the face of Augsburg, where past eras come alive. Today, plays and concerts in magnificent old halls, the open-air opera at the “Rotes Tor”, art exhibitions, festivals, museums and churches are just as much the goal of international tourists as are the Fuggerei, the Mozart House or the Bert Brecht House. Besides, there is a wide range of movie theatres, bars, restaurants and clubs offering lots of possibilities for recreational activities, as do the parks and lakes located in Augsburg or its immediate surroundings. |
